Gen III and IV do cut down to 2 frames and utilize lot's of Squash and Stretch, again though it is reasonable and accomplish what needs to be done.
Black and White is a fucking eyesore, perpetually moving sprites was a mistakeThe problem with 3D is that you can't just send out a Pokemon have it move for two frames. The model needs to be always moving, so they better have some damn good animations. They don't. What's frustrating is that they have all the animation they need, it's right there in Amie. Maybe have the Pokemon do their happy animation when they kill a opponent, I'm positive Amie has some sort of ideal if you leave your Pokemon for too long use that periodically. The sleeping animation and angry can be utilized as well.
And before anyone says that that would drag out the game I'm not suggesting a cut to you or the opponent's Pokemon whenever one of these playing, it should be automatic. The Fainting animation should be as well.
