>>48645078>Gen 8 has started a trend of dialing back the amount of included content instead of just constantly adding moreWrong. They had a perfectly good foundation for 3D Pokemon with ORAS that included the National Dex complete with new entries and renders, the DexNav for Pokemon distribution and management, off-grid movement options with the circle pad, roller skates, and bike, and new mechanics to pre-existing ones like bike customization, chain fishing, Super Training, hordes, petting with minigames to incentivize doing so, and a bunch of other shit that was a joy to play through.
Gen 7 was the first step in stripping that down, and almost all of it went without a proper replacement or QOL substitute. On top of all of that, Gen 7 ran shittier despite using clunkier models for the trainers that they tried to shove into the battles at the expense of proper scale and other battle modes like triples, rotations, and hordes.
For fuck's sake. Gen 6 had an interesting new seedling of a battle mode with Inverse that has been MIA since because they decided to completely scrap everything XY and ORAS were building up to when they decided to make Alola a glorified tourist trap without an identity outside of Kanto.
I have zero sympathy for anyone acting surprised at the current state of the games. Even Let's Go Piss was a more enjoyable romp than anything else from Gen 7 and 8. XY in particular are probably just about the more barebones and safe games you can have in the series but it still set a decent precedent and standard that 3D Pokemon should have abided by.
No, instead we've been getting lower and lower since. Sun and Moon is the beginning of shovelware Pokemon. It started the new direction, and the shills on here are so rabid that they will try and make anything else the scapegoat to try and say otherwise, be it Gen 6, Gen 5, or even Sword and Shield despite the fact it was just a rehash of the same shit they did for Gen 7 on a bigger scale.
Stop defending them.
