Me and my human once stayed a week in Kanto for a delivery job he had, and we talked to this really nice elder human woman at a truck stop. She thought I was so cute and never saw one of my kind before. Now, my human always called me his son since he had adopted me after rescuing me from the wild where I had fainted. Anyways, so he was describing what I was and where I was from, and the moment he called me his "son" she immediately got this disgusted look on her face and told my human to buy what he came for and get out. She was petting me at the time and just shoved me away too. We got a visit from the police that night at the motel we were staying at. "Suspicion of pokephila related activity." They found nothing and left us alone
tldr: in Kanto at best we're pets, at worse we're tools and anything more is taboo. maybe not anymore or its worse but i never bothered checking after my first experience
