>>24999117No, Chip 'n Dale is tight. I'm referring to Ruby Destiny: Rescue Rangers, a Ruby hack that tries to be Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and fails horribly.
I've been considering doing a second playthrough of each game for /vp/ since it's been over a year and the archive has fucked up images, a lot of people haven't experienced it in full.
>>24999163As someone who's seeked out bad hacks to play for amusement, be careful about what you put in your plot; I assume you're old enough to avoid going full CRAWLING but you should avoid filling your hack with lame dialogue trying to be funny, even good ROMhacks I've played have issue with that.
This should seem obvious but if you're going to have Fakemon, don't make them overpowered, especially the Legendaries. If you're going to give something a BST of 600 or higher, stop and pause to make sure it's not too minmaxed, and definitely stop and consider if what you're doing is right if you ever go above 700 for some reason. Same for custom moves, don't make some 200BST signature move with a 100% chance of causing burn or confusion or whatever the fuck. If you want your game to be "challenging" make sure to keep in mind what level the average player would be at and what Pokémon they'll readily have access to. Don't make the player fight a powerful Ghost-type when almost everything only knows Normal-type moves.
Have people test your game. And make sure it's non-hugbox people, Pokécommunity is a crapshoot because half the people will blindly praise you without offering any constructive criticism. Seek out people willing to try their damndest to break your scripts or anything else new you put in your hack, that way you can fix as many bugs as possible.
On the topic of bugs, if you have something that makes your game unplayable, work to fix it ASAP and don't just put a warning in the OP of whatever forum thread you make telling you not to break it.
