>>54980423Mindy's quite endearing, and that's coming from a guy who doesn't much care for characters known for extreme nervousness constantly. I think the fact she's trying to improve and taking steps forward makes her very likable, it's inspirational and you love to see it.
I understand your feelings on not wanting to make a character OP, temoving constraints when have power or godly abilities to move around kind of destroy stakes in the plot and it's hard to relate to someone who has those skills. I do want to see Mindy learning, training, and growing more though, and if you pick writing with her back up I'm excited to see what she can do next. Kind of like a Steven Universe angle, even if his mom is space Jesus watching the boy's coming-of-age story was one of my favorite elements of that show just getting to the point where he can try to follow in his mom's footsteps. It's exciting to see shit click and the joy of achieving, while simultaneously juggling the expectation you and others have on what you should be able to do (the latter of which I think you did a solid job of already).
I assume just because she's becoming more confident little by little doesn't mean she will just become extroverted or brash overnight. I'm not sure if she's a naturally timid person or if that's all from the shock of her situation, but retaining the meek demeanor isn't bad even after she undergoes her hero's journey. I think of Lammy from Um Jammer Lammy, even after her band makes it big and she becomes famous she still is at the end of the day shy ol' Lammy, and that's just fine, people like her character that way.
I must say though, she might have a significantly easier time blending in or playing on the down low if she were able to learn how to Transform, which in older gens was actually a very early level up move for Mews, and could be a skill she has to consistently work on over time, if that gives you anything to work off of.
