One of my best friends growing up loved to play Pokemon, and we'd always play Pokemon Stadium together. We eventually got the Gameboy along with Red and Blue, and the merchandise that followed. I had to move away a few years later, but before I left, she gave me a Dratini doll.
I moved back to the same town just before middle school, but we attended different schools. I didn't see her much until we both entered the high school, but her interests had changed, so we didn't have much in common anymore. We drifted.
The last time I saw her was graduation day. A month after that, my friend's mom cut her own life short and took my friend with her. I have a year until I graduate college, and it's strange to look back and remember that it's been several years since that happened and that she won't be graduating college too. I still have that Dratini plush and ever since she gave it to me, Dratini has been my special pokemon.
