You're probably referring to "binder bulge" which can happen even without Double Sleeving but there are plenty of binders which do not bulge even with Double Sleeving. A good perfect fit sleeve also does more to prevent curling and warping especially from humidity than a Toploader + Penny Sleeve. We can argue aesthetics/convenience all day
