Alright /vp/, admittedly we talk about the same old shit on here day after day, whether that be to complain about a specific removed feature or to stroke our egos over how everything is fine.
This thread is about some of the smaller features or themes you noticed in the games that most people wouldn't think that much about. It can be something that you liked or disliked but preferably nothing that you feel strongly about, just the details that made you say "Hey that's cool" or "Hey that's disappointing.
I'm focusing mainly on Sword/Shield but anything from the 3DS era would be recent enough to talk about.
I'll start with the names of the gym leaders. In the early generations most of them have blatantly obvious references to their type specialties at least in the western releases and around Gen 6 and 7 they toned it down to more subtle references while in Gen 8 I see few references if any.

Most of these don't seem to have anything other than Nessa and Kabu, they're just names that happen to fit with the themes.
I thought it was a nice detail above previous generations where they would add a letter to the name and it would be done. This could be completely different in the Japanese names though.
