Himiko cares about him, but rarely ever drops her "better than you" attitude around him. That's because she doesn't really need to. There's a bit of an understanding between the two that allows them to banter playfully.

Although Himiko and Cosmas can both see and try to urge him to do so, it often takes actual human intervention for him to do this.
