>>44079826>>44080025Firstly, greater selection of Pokemon makes you not care about future picks if your whole team is assembled from the beginning. There are not many people who throw away half of their team for the sake of something new later on the journey.
Secondly, having more Pokemon in the beginning makes early game harder since everything needs to catch up to a sensible level. Of course, meme share makes the game easier but not everyone likes this. I despise the fact that you don't even have a need to use Pokemon in fast level group (e.g. Thievul, Yamper, Wishiwashi) since 50% share of experience is enough for them to catch up to the rest of your team.
Thirdly, it is a chaotic mess when everything is available from the get go. Region gets less memorable for the convenience of the player. This is something that happens in game sequels quite often. Gameplay gets better but the original atmosphere isn't there anymore. Gothic and Fallout are like that.
I've counted. Galar gives you access to 44% of new Pokemon before first badge. 41 out of 94. It's a mess.
