Hey everyone. I've been doing a little bit of research into the Pokemon situation and think I've come across information that hasn't been shared yet.
Game Freak has been desperately trying to get rid of the National Dex for years. They knew this was never going to go over well with fans, so they tried everything to ease people into the idea as early as Gen 5 featuring only generation 5 Pokemon in the main game.
As a result they have been trying to quietly quash the online backlash by refusing to acknowledge it in any way, and by going out of their way to try and 'drown out' the controversy with announcements.
Toby Fox was hired for Little Town Hero specifically to create hype and publicity for Game Freak in online gaming communities, not because he is a particularly good composer. It was an attempt to win back fans by doing nothing at all.
