The lore I made for it states it's a very lonely and pretty depressed so it takes away people and perform mock weddings. But befire this it spins a dress made of fine silk. This is it at it's happiest.
This is reference to the Jorōgumo a japanese spider yokai that takes the form of a wife and kidnaps men.
Also it's a reference to Arachne from greek mythology. A woman who transforned into a spider monster because she could weave things fast.
