This game is incredibly, ridiculously fucking braindead. Maybe it's just because Drizzile is strong, but I have had zero incentive to do anything but solo with the starter. I figured that the first mild challenge might be coming since only my Corvisquire (regional bird 3nd stage) and Drizzile were really used in battle. I caught the first Rolycoly I found at level 10 and have been actively trying to avoid wild fights to minimise XP gain while keeping it my party.
This barely leveled Carkoal almost solo'd the first """gym""" fight. I thought shit was going to go down when Milo's Eldegloss Dynamxed, especially since its Max grass moves were neutral against a rock/fire. Guess what the AI did? It deliberately refused to use max grass and instead used max normal which barely touched my rock type carkoal, for the remainder of its 2 Dynamaxed turns. Only reason I even bothered to Dynamax my mon as seen the above pic was because I was about to steamroll the fight anyway, with a pokemon I just left in my party for about two routes. I don't know if the game keeps being this braindead, but it's fucking insulting.
Games like this have a tendency of frontloading their pretty shit also, so I'm not expecting it to get better, though it's barely acceptable for now.
