>>36169748Well for one, " I love OCs that expound on NPC classes or concepts." I also think a good OC isn't much more than an NPC, and shouldn't be ridiculously powerful or famous or successful. But, more importantly, when I scoped out my first Pokemon RP hangout, all the male trainers were generic anime prettyboys and plucky shounen protagonists. I thought that was dumb and boring, and wanted to a character that went against the grain some. A character that wasn't a kid, either. Also, I really like beards, and wanted to include that. I didn't have any money at the time to get a commission, so I had to rely on official art.There aren't many Pokemon trainers or classes with beards, so it pretty much fell on the Hiker, and I started building off of that. Eventually, I tweaked the Hiker sprite some to make it more personalized, and from there started getting art.
To say that the character is "just a Hiker" is kind of unfair. He's based off one, there are definite similarities, but that's not all that's going on.
