>>34101162I'll open this by saying that it's a comparison to previous games, rather than judging them as standalones.
5.5/10 for gen 6
3/10 for gen 7.
I'll admit I never played oras, but I honestly had a fun time with XY. Fairy type was neat, even if it was a bit overbearing at first, and megas were an amazing addition. The games were crammed full of pokemon from multiple generations so you always had a real choice with what you can use. The PSS is and was by far the greatest edition to the game and I'm still pissed that U/SM removed it. Lack of frontier didn't really bother me. I never really cared to mess with it before so sue me I guess idk, but removing it is still just wrong. Really, gen6 was amazing AS IT WAS HAPPENING due to how good the online was, but now that it's over and the games are only good for a second playthrough, I can't rate them very high. XY was too easy, even with the exp share turned off. Trainer customization is pretty neat but only girls getting decent options was and is bullshit. As is pokemon bank. I don't give a fuck what their reasoning is, nor how "cheap" it is, charging additional money to transfer pokemon is fucking cancer. and no you weren't charged to transfer them before. Yes, you needed a second system, but that was a hardware limitation and there are uses for a second DS anyways. Nothing that bank can do couldn't be done on a small scale SD card based storage app.
U/SM? Lots of horrible bullshit. The plaza isn't fun, just tedious. Z-moves are also pretty dumb. It's just a boring nuke that OHKO's nearly whatever it hits. A mega? that's interesting and can be countered with another mega or careful application of type weakness/status. but there is no counterplay to a Z-move. it gets that 1 turn of surprise power at levels far greater than a mega will do in 1 turn and then it's just done. That said, I admit I like the ones with special effects and hope we see more of those, as well as more megas.
