No victory is truly free, it seems. The cards had all been aligned; Roark's first monster, a Spheal, fell easily to Capellini's barrage of Vacuum Waves. His second however, an Omanyte, proved more troublesome. While it's typing was fortunately another opening for my Scyther's fighting-type attack, it's liberal use of potions and defensive measures kept it's health dropping at a whittler's pace. While I did eventually bring it down, Capellini was in no condition to fight a third bout.
Swapping for my Slakoth and immediately hitting Roark's Buneary with a yawn, I had hoped to buy enough time for me to heal my Scyther and swipe an easy win over the sleeping rabbit. But, in a flash of Frustration, my Pokémon was brought to it's knees in one blow. Luckily, it's sacrifice was not in vein. As Buneary nodded off, my Scyther returned to claim the kill.
In a cruel twist of irony, my first casualty and my first companion are one and the same. With little time for remorse, my adventure presses on.
