>>56268279>I don't see the value of smogonfagging in a fictional work.It helps set ground rules for the work so you don't end up doing stupid shit. Disregarding stats leads to Ash Ketchum teams and blatantly unrealistic scenarios (within the context of the story) like a Rowlet successfully trading blows with a Decidueye.
>A character's team is about aesthetic, not calculations. It would be more accurate to say that it's about personality. There's several OCs besides mine such as Bibi and the Goblin whose teams don't share a unified "aesthetic"
>Your work does account for smogonfagging and game stats, but that is not the case for literally everyone else. That is why your advice is flawed and doesn't really help at all.First of all, you made this sound very gay,
Second of all, even if you completely disregard stats, some Pokemon are just objectively better than others unless you go full Ashnime fanfic. Gholdengo is objectively better than Houndstone in every single way. Better ability, better typing, better movepool, etc, you're comparing a monotype shitdog to an incredibly rare and coveted species, there will be a massive power gap regardless of whether you take into account stats or not.
