the grass/fire rabbits are based on peppers so they hold the two spiciest berries. those berries also raise attack or special attack in a pinch (25% or less health) and this works well for a fast mixed attacker pokemon.
the carnibal line has a variety of berries to allude to it's unpredictability and it's voracious apetite.
the soakoth line are likely to sleep and so they have a chesto berry which cures sleep. the snogre is based on trolls who are known to turn to stone in their mythos, for this reason they have a cheri berry which cures paralysis. orangutao has a berry which cures confusion to imply it's mental fortitude. and forusk has a berry which cures freezing which alludes to the fact that it is based on a pine tree which keeps it's needles all year round even through icey conditions.
penglacier, shibalbat, cheshade/grin, chardinal/ite, and the turkeys have berries which give them resistance to a super effective move which would otherwise kill them outright with 4x effectivity. so if a player is used to spamming brick break with their iguadium against all penglaciers every once in a while they will be caught off guard when it's chople berry allows it to survive the hit.
