Due to the abundance of fairy types in Alola the introduced Arbok became overfed and lethargic, taking lazy lifestyles because food was always guaranteed. They developed psychic abilities by sheer force of lethargy so that they have minimal required activity to catch prey.
Eventually Yungoos were introduced to try and control the Arbok population.
