As soon as I saw Golurk, I knew it would be one of my favorites, but I didn't realize just how many different things its design draws inspiration from until recently.
Of course you have the obvious Golem of Prague theme and Roman gladiator/titan theme at first glance, but also the swirly symbols on its shoulders could be seen as a nod to the myth of golems in general, with them being brought to life specifically by having magic writing written on them. Another thing is that its body could be seen as a clay pot, further supporting the fact that it's made of clay. The inspirations even go beyond its design, with many of its learnable moves and the fact that it flies using jets being a reference to mechas in pop culture
I also like the kind of makeshift/unfinished look to it and the fact that its ghost typing, like Rotom's forms, Banette, and possibly even Shedinja, goes beyond just the usual undead/spirit theme and comes from the fact that it's a non living thing being posessed by some mysterious external life force
