I grew up in suburban Long Island, NY. Oldest of 4 children. Soundly middle-class, my parents were always attentive to our interests and took good care of us. Spent a lot of time in the outdoors exploring, traipsing through the woods, splashing through the creek, turning over rocks, and playing games. Went camping and road-tripping annually, which was always fun. Also been a big bird nerd my whole life, for whatever reason. Loved finding and observing critters of all kinds, but birds were always my main focus.
