Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea might be my favorite movie of the AG era. I know the Lucario movie is generally the fan favorite because of all of the interesting things it opens up, but I like a good movie about a girl and her dog. This movie was a better promotion for the Pokemon Ranger games than the two specials Battle Frontier already had, because Jackie is such a cool character and I wanted to see him do more stuff. It also had the coolest version of Ash that I've seen in any of the AG movies. Interestingly enough, I think this might be the first movie without any Pokemon battles, unless you count the Team Rocket blast off near the beginning.
The stuff at near the end with Super Saiyan Ash was a bit superfluous, but at least they kept the emotional climax at May and Manaphy's goodbye, which is what it should've been given the entire tone of the movie. I'm happy that the Advancedshippers got something out of it as well, with the oddly romantic swimming scene, since Advancedbros are generally the most chill of all of the Ashbowl contestants, and the regular series doesn't give them much.
