It's bittersweet, because obviously the thing you love doesn't really exist. In Pikachu's case it's also pretty hard to disconnect because the blasted thing is everywhere. I'm not sure I'd change even if I could; Pikachu is one of the only things in my life I consistently feel warmly about. It's my rock.
Not really a big deal compared to other stuff in this thread, I hide it well and am normal besides being Pikasexual. But yeah, you're not alone.
