Then you've got cards like Gengar Vmax which sold consistently for $100-$120 and then totally for realsies sold multiple copies for $1000 dollars completely out of the blue. Many cards from series 1 and 2 have only a few absolutely ludicrously priced listings. Tyranitar V was consistently a $10 card and current listings are trying to sell it for $100.
It's mostly limited to series 1 and 2 because those had far less distributed, but the more recent series are entirely safe either. Despite being a relatively easy pull, Mew ex was initially sitting at over $70. The first time the market began to correct down to below $40 it immediately shot back up to $100 within a day before gradually settling back down to what it is now.
