>>12788458But Dewgong - all one has to do to open himself to your beauty is to look upon the mad-ugly Seel that lies at the beginning of Dewgong's path.
As I remember encountering both in gen-1, it felt like this:
>Seel -horribly designed sea pest with a face that begs for a punch.
>Dewgong -graceful, adorable sea mammal that single-handedly fixed the ills of Seel itself.
My favourite?
<Never before I had encountered a pokemon that felt immediately likeable by first impression alone -it always took some moments of bonding to what you use. In this case - a single hour is all it took to elevate him into a potential bro-tier. Placement, context and premise only helped to speed up that process.
Shame that he seems to be overhated - for there are times when I feel a burst of 'underdog sympathy' coming through and it is a notion I absolutely detest.
