The whole fucking trick to using Talonflame and it's piss weak attack stat is to late game sweep when the opponent's checks and counters are either removed or softened up. Only a new shit would try it any other time, and then only that new shit would think it not useful to be able to take out one of the biggest checks to their Pokemon's set with the only requirement being a little prior damage.
