>>48283866I love Bea, both her design and that tough girl/sweetie addicted dual personality, and turning her into Ash's rival was one of the best decisions.
But if I have to complain about something, it is how badly they have developed their rivalry, their episodes have been few and their rivalry is exaggeratedly casual. Let me explain, with Gary, Paul, Alain, and even Trip we were given an introduction, a conflict (Privilege-Conditioned, Natural talent-Hard work, conflict of ideals, personal interests, classism), this conflict developed throughout the series and it was given a resolution, giving closure to both parties.
On the other hand, Bea feels like a casual opponent, there is no background, it is like any of those characters that only appear in one episode, Bea was a perfect character to show Ash the cruel reality of a world league, which many times does not matter how much you strive, how much love you have for your pokemon, or your past glories, there will always be someone who surpasses you and will not contemplate trampling you, this would have been achieved by seeing Bea humiliate and defeat several of Ash's old friends and rivals, some would be enough cameos or references every certain episodes, this would give Bea an aura of unstoppable strength, as well as give Ash a new responsibility carrying the dreams of his friends on his shoulders.
With Leon this does not work, he is already at the top and takes the false role of mentor, encouraging others to reach him, he is like a king who sees the end of his days and waits for a worthy successor before retiring.
