>pokemon merch, pokemon this, pokemon that, pokemon makes it to the news several times, I sure hope my parents won't fall for the le satanic memes>they buy me a pikachu plushie, a gameboy and pokemon red instead, cool let's do it>most kids around you are playing the game, watching the anime or collecting for TCG, they will usually be available to trade or battle, or just to fanboy about pokemon for the entire day really>also watch the anime religiously>excited to meet new creatures, find out what the moves do and which pokemon learn which since the game doesn't tell you shit>no internet either, breeding ground for playground rumors and in general spreading knowledge through word-of-mouth, not everyone buys strategy guides and I sure as hell didn't get one>get to try so many dumb shit you hear around, some worked, others were bullshit but it was fun to find out which is which>eventually GS comes out, damn it got an actual SEQUEL instead of something like Yellow?>and I can explore a new region plus Kanto again?
