The point is really simple. If you don't like the design, then don't compete. You can play Showdown or a different game.
If you agree to a ruleset and then break it by cheating to gain a competitive advantage, you are a pathetic and unskilled scumbag. No exceptions. (and that doesn't even touch the subject of cliques, what they do and how the nameless cheater from the OP got a match handed in to him by a friend)
I hate Verlisify's opinions, but regarding cheating he's 100% correct. For VGC to grow, cheating must be obliterated and cheaters must be rooted out and banned indefinitely.
Of course the latter won't happen, so VGC is just going to remain trash nobody cares about.
