There's zero reason to ever even consider running Serperior on your team unless its packing Contrary, then suddenly it goes from completely unremarkable to being totally unique and dangerous, slinging off +2 Leaf Storms. Like the other anon said, Pokemon have been designed around their abilities, and its a core part of their identity in later generations, you can't equate an ability with pointless feature bloat when its so ingrained in what makes a Pokemon memorable.
