>>37297659>XY1. Camera is too zoomed in. It took me a while to realize it but the new camera is one of the reasons exploration wasn't as satisfying as in previous games.
2. Too many cutscenes. The beginning is filled with them and you can easily tell when the next one will stop your progress (e.g. when you leave the gym).
3. Scenario seems unfinished. Team Flare's story ends abruptly. AZ is almost not involved at all. Gym leaders are as boring as they were in gens 1-3.
4. Postgame is relatively small. It relied heavily on people interacting with each other. It became obvious when everyone stopped trading Vivillons and swapping Friend Codes for Safaris.
Despite all of the above mentioned flaws I still really enjoyed these games and I consider them great.
>ORAS1. Delta Episode in general. The story is short so it lacks emotional impact. The quality of the writing is something a lot of people could write in one day after reading through some fanfics. The gameplay is non-existent. The lack of choices was especially annoying to me because I wanted to punch Zinnia's face hard in Mossdeep.
2. Lack of the Battle Frontier. While I wasn't fond of it in Emerald or didn't really look forward to it in the remakes, I see the potential now. With improved breeding and training, Battle Frontier would be a nice addition. GameFreak could at least implement new formats in Maison.
3. Linear and easier progression. NPCs constantly inform you where to go next, offer you teleportation or do the opposite - stop you from advancing further. I don't mind the first two (honestly, some of the HMs were really stupidly placed in RS) but the last one bugs me. There is a difference between a convenient change and a reduced player's freedom.
And my opinion about ORAS is similar to XY. To be honest, sixth gen lands in my top 3 generations when you only factor in main games.
