The upcoming Kanto remake in 2026 for the anniversary is showing some potential, it still seems pretty lazy but its looking solid.
Its basically LGPE but in a mainline game form. The retcon the original dex to add new evolution lines. Alolan Raichu is refered to Island Raichu and evolves with Pikachu on Cinnibar or Seafoam. This also applies to Marowak and Exeggutor. I think Mr. Mime needs seafoam cave to get the icey mime and Koffing needs to be leveled up within a city. Unfortunately no other variant forms if they don't share an evolution family with a Kanto Pokémon, so no Alolan Sandshrew, etc.
No sevii or johto unfortunately, but there will be a Mew event, and elite four and gym leader rematches.
