Sure, communities surrounding a video game can get stupid and toxic. But that can only happen if the developers in question spend a lot of time and effort to NOT listen to the needs of its fans. Regardless of whether or not LGPE turns out to be any good (and indeed, it seems to be skyrocketing into mediocrity), it will be remembered as an absolute marketing blunder, taking away features appreciated by a long-standing player base to try to convince players of a free cell phone game to buy a $299 console and a $60 remake of a 20 year old game.
