He and ash had that chemistry, they would take the piss all the time and they knew they were still bros. and you can tell that gary is really thoughtful and sensitive when he puts his wall down. I want more of that between ash & gary. I also want gary's geekiness as a professor to shine through probably cocky as another outlet for some of his old self to come out.
I know I'm gonna be disappointed when Gary comes back, I cant help but get excited but its gonna be a bit painful honestly. its not just that the new show doesnt do subtlety or anything well, its also like the misty fans, I know gary's never coming back to stay, its just to drum up promotion. at the very least I'm pretty certain they'll try to make him come off as extremely cool again and thats always a treat.
I kinda wish Gary started traveling with ash for hoenn, it almost feels like they were setting him up in the last few johto eps. he could have been there for a few more seasons instead of brock. They'd probably ruin him, but I'm curious about the idea anyway.
