>>41280914I just beat it too. I took my time with it, really immersed myself within the dumpster fire that this franchise has become.
I was a kid when gen 1 came out. I skipped the last 2 gens, bought this thinking “how bad could it be”
My review
The Good
>A handful of nice animations. Loved when Timbur used pound and hit me with a 2x4>The variety to catch early on was a breath of fresh air>The music is fantastic The bad
>The routes are pathetic, short straight forward hallways>There are no dungeons, instead more straight forward routes named like a dungeon>I didnt realize there would be this much talking. Every beginning and end of a new area has a cut scene. I feel like most of my playtime was forced cut scenes.>They just tell you were to go at all times. I didnt just feel like my hand was being held, I felt like I was dragged, slowly, through the game>They block you from catching pokemon over a certain lvl. Wild area pokemon spawn at that level +1>The catch rates are fucked>Grinding wouldnt be worth it, I tried. It has a gen 5 exp curve but even if you fight a shit ton of creatures above your level it still feels like a trickle. The entire games exp system feels arbitrary, as no matter what you do youll be around the level the game wants you to be at each part.>wtf was that story? Why even force a story at all. Why cant “kid leaves home and becomes champ” be the story? The writing was insulting. All that fucking talking and still plot points just came out of nowhereI gotta say, comparing it to gen 1-5, this has the least actual content. The only exploration is in the wild area and that feels poorly executed in just about every possible way.
The graphics, presentation, all of it was majorly underwhelming. The game lacks polish from its old mechanics like route design to its new stuff like making curry, which just felt like a way to waste my time.
4/10 they should be embarrassed
