Yeah, this is definitely a filter cold season for the app. It's far too disruptive for its own good.
My guess is that the app is more used than the browser overall, which is where the most puritans will whine. This happened some time last year, so there's no way that things are going to stay this unusable.
Regardless, it's very jarring having three different experiences on the same platform, all while losing the features that the users actually liked.
To any lurker devs out there, please get your act together sooner than later!
