Being serious here, Gamefreak is NOT criticized enough. Pokemon could be so much more and yet they're still being incompetent for the amount of money they make. Pokemon is the biggest media franchise in the world and yet it doesn't reflect the quality of the newer games. Gamefreak is being awarded for what little effort they do.
And yet, the games will still make a shit ton of money no matter how low effort they put into them.
