Get home later. Check map. Literally two lapras within a block from each other and a vaporeon. Both lapras had <2min left.
Waited for something good to spawn to leave to hit gyms. First one was snorlax.
The snorlax fled on the first toss though
things got better though. shitty dragonite appeared two blocks away i would have pinaped but didn't want to risk another one running away.
Picked up 3 more 10kms today too, after hatching 3 shitmon on my way to a mareep
