Traps target pokemon for 3 turns, going through Protect/Detect and similar moves and affecting ghost types as well. Trapped target can't be switched out even by its own moves (such as Volt Switch and U-turn) but can be by other pokemon moves (such as Whirlwind and Dragon Tail).
