I'm replaying Emerald, a gen I'm not actually all that fond of, and enjoying myself way less than I had been playing SWSH. So no, I think I actually have consistent standards instead of being a nostalgiacuck crying about a series he grew out of.

I replayed Emerald (which is apparently harder than RS according to the people who cock suck it) last month and I was able to sweep through the entire game with just Torchic. I couldn't even tell if it's easier than gen 6 because both games allow you to stomp the entire game by mindlessly OHKOing every trainer.

the trainers in these games will always be worthless as long as the game keeps letting you backtrack to the pokemon center for free and spam as many revives and potions as you want. The only trainers worth a shit are the battle facility ones. None of the suggestions in this thread will actually fix being able to curbstomp them repeatedly with zero effort.
