Pokemon was heavily influenced by ultraman and other kaiju shows/films. Pokemon such as venusaur, slowbro, lickitung, nidoking/queen, rhydon, etc. are not simply a cartoon version of an animal. Just like actual kaijus they take the basic kaijuesque shape which is that of a large vaguely reptilian/saurid and just add whatever other attributes from all sorts of animals regardless of any kind of taxonomic accuracy.
Venusaur is as much of a frog as lickitung is a chameleon, it fucking isnt, but it does take a kaijuesque shape and adds some chameleon attributes.
kekleon is a cartoon chameleon, its a chameleon pokemon
lickitung is a not a chameleon pokemon, its a tongue themed kaiju
If you have an issue with the word kaiju just call it a monster, a creature.
