There was also the bonus that you could be pretty certain that all the trades were for legit pokemon, since there was no hacking scene (or even powersaves) and the only possible cheat was a cloning glitch that was tedious, unreliable and slow.
The Vivillon patterns are the only Pokémon in my living dex that do not have my own or an event OT and I am happy to allow to be there.
