I just liked his typing from the start: Psychic/Fighting, like a warrior of mind and body, and eventually started using him as an avatar elsewhere on the Internet. I've trained a couple--one with Mean Look, Hypnosis, False Swipe, and Taunt, and another for battle. The first was my "ultimate beast-catcher Gallade".
I liked Ralts since I played Emerald 386...couldn't evolve him until after getting the National Dex, but still raised him happily. Ralts was part of my first introduction to Gen 3+ Pokémon.
Anyway, yeah, I identify with the mental warrior thing, and basically adopted him as my favorite Pokémon, though I have lots of favorites.
