Is it always a bad thing? There is the common "acceptable mistakes" like Lopunny with black sclera or artistic liberties unusual colorations that even the anime likes to do (such as the Pikachu with blue eyes). Even the games make tiny changes between them, like shiny Miltank now being blue. Then there is pokémon that only look good in fanart (I'll avoid examples here for the obvious reason).
I know many of you have an extreme distaste for off-model stuff but... come on, who doesn't like chicken breasts?
