>>46073577I see similarities, but it's not quite at Iris level. PM2019 is literally "Pokemon: Easy Mode" the anime. BW sucked and so did Iris, but at the time it was because things kept getting worse and worse in the series that Iris kept getting more hate. At the time it was unheard of for a companion, let alone one so disliked, to get a Dragonite out of fucking nowhere. Dragonite back then was seen as a top tier Pokemon who was always a powerful ace. On top of that Iris was really annoying, had a shitter babymon, and never really did anything that made people like her.
No one gives a shit about Go; they give a shit about how the anime is continually breaking more and more trends in a bad way.
Past references and cameo's are fine, but that's defined Ashs entire experience in this series so far. All he gets are references to past series and nothing new. He's the side character now.
