>>25240571Absolutely nothing went wrong. It's the first gen where the starters are clearly united in concept: RPG classes. A fitting concept that for some reason they hadn't done before, even considering the fact that Pokemon is an RPG. That's why they work very well together aesthetically. The only minor issues are Chesnaught's slight case of spaghetti limbs and Delphox still using a wand instead of a staff even after it evolved, maybe the lack of hat too, although i'm sure the megas will fix those issues. Greninja is pretty perfect, which is why i'm sure the mega will most likely screw it up.
The only actual problem is the gameplay discrepancies. Grass/Steel would've been better for Chesnaught in the age of Flying and Fairy, but his movepool is great as it is. Delphox REALLY needs some stat rebalancing and SOME USEFUL AND VARIED MOVES.
In terms of final evolutions, i can confidently say that they're one of, if not the best set of starters we've had.
