I'm only at the Frost Cavern in my new game and have nearly 500 in my dex. I'm having a lot of fun taking it real slow. Fuck leveling dragons though, I've just been trading for them.
Alternatively: breed not-starter pokebank mon, trade for anything you want. Bonus if they're in the HG/SS balls.
