Following that they EXPECTED and believed in seeing more fucked up robo/dino Pokemon and got exactly that.
This works off of soft magic rules, where we know there's rules to what's going on, but don't know the specifics, that doesn't just suddenly mean you throw the whole idea out, especially when we know things are going to be explained later.
