>>46110166I’ve been casually going at the battle frontier in Soul Silver for a couple months now, here’s what I’ve learned.
First and foremost, there’s a Smogon thread that has BF records and strategies. I highly recommend checking it out, pretty easy to find off a google search. That’ll give you good comparisons for your team.
For the factory: You don’t need your own dudes, but read a guide. Probably the most difficult imo. Too much to explain here.
For the hall: Get a fast and hard-hitting mon with lots of coverage. Focus sash is mandatory so that you can live and 2hko mons you’re weak to. Garchomp is king here, surprise surprise. Start with your hardest types and end with easiest. Remember shedinja exists.
For the arcade: Just try to hit the best thing on the board every time. Line up two options you don’t mind in a row in case you misclick so you at least hit one. Like the other anon said, you don’t get your items here so make sure your mons are good without them.
For the castle: Similar to the arcade, the whole castle system is your focus and I don’t think you get your items (at least not right away). You get more castle points each round if you don’t lose health, so fast sweepers are great to rack up cp early. Use cp to scout each team and buff yourself/cripple them accordingly, having a list of mons here is helpful.
For the tower: The tower is another beast entirely, especially if you’re going for 100. I’ve got the gold print with an aggressive team (streak ended 54, physical cb infernape, life orb starmie, sd chomp with lum), but it’s not easy. With so many battles, you will inevitably get haxed to death by brightpowder, quick claw, ohko moves, criticals, etc. The tried and true method is to have a mon with choice scarf lead, trick and cripple their lead (lock them into a move and then twave/flash/memento or something), and then switch and set up 6 dragon dances or something equivalently broken.
