>>54681324I beat Red in my hardcore nuzlocke of this game the other day. Kanto still feels like a slog because it's just a boss rush with the Power Plant quest in between. Even with better Pokemon and higher levels, monotype teams are just too easy and aren't very interesting in a nuzlocke.
E4R2 and Red were both pretty trivial. You can use the same strats as in E4R1 and still be fine. Red's Mewtwo can be PP stalled with a Normal/Ghost/Dark core and the rest aren't very threatening. Snorlax just spammed Curse on mine while I two shot it.
